Have you been to Auro Chocolate’s cafe in IKEA in Pasay City? If you loved their coffee and desserts—like the bestselling Classic Dark Choc Au Lait and Choco Peanut Butter Bar, you’ll definitely need to visit their new and bigger home in Bonifacio Global City that houses the Pasay City branch’s menu of eats and drinks but also goes waaaay beyond it.

What more can you expect? Auro Chocolate Cafe’s new flagship store serves appetizers, brunch meals, rice bowls, cocktails, and, our favorite to date, the branch-exclusive pastries.

Two of the branch-exclusive pastries we tried and loved is the Pistachio Danish (P200)—imagine a buttery and flaky pastry topped with sweet pistachio cream, and then topped with crushed pistachios. The other is the Grazed Ham & Cheese Croissant (P220). This giant croissant is filled with bechamel, Christmas ham, and cheddar cheese, and topped with shredded Emmental.
Other items we tried that aren’t exclusive to the BGC flagship store but are bestselling items, new and old, are the Ooey Gooey Chocolatey Caramely Tub Cake (P350), the Triple Chunk Cookie (P120), Choco Peanut Butter Bar (P115), the Classic Dark Lait (P180), and the Salted Caramel White Choc Au Lait (P190).

As for Auro Chocolate Cafe’s brunch menu, the popular dishes are the Fried Chicken & Ube Waffle (P520) which has two pieces of fried chicken served with liège-style ube waffle with toasted coconut milk and cacao tablea syrup, and the Crispy Pata Croquetas (P350) that filled the croquettes with bechamel and the pata that’s marinated in soy sauce, calamansi, and chili.

If a heavy meal is what you’re looking for, go for Auro Cafe’s recommended Ginataang Kalabasa (P390) and GF Beef Tapa (P450). The ginataang dish cooks squash and french beans in coconut milk and curry spices and is served with white or red garlic rice, while the GF Beef Tapa (P450) has tender beef you can dip in cacao vinegar, fried egg, pickled papaya, and white garlic rice.
For those who are staying for an after-hour drink or a nightcap (they close at 10 p.m.), Auro Chocolate Cafe recommends the Alak-san (P550) and the Mai Pa Tai (P550) which both use Don Papa rum. The Alak-san, the cocktail named after that famous medicine, is a mix of rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, coconut cream, and cinnamon syrup, while the Mai Pa Tai is a concoction of rum, lime juice, Cointreau, orgeat, simple syrup, and mint.
