Be right back, booking a trip to Iloilo ASAP.

In the Philippines, there are always much-anticipated festivals that celebrate our rich culture and beliefs. Cebu's Sinulog festival and Kalibo Ati-Atihan festival are just some of the popular festivals that happen in the first few weeks of the year: January 4 and the third Sunday of January, respectively. After these two fiestas, the next big annual fiesta on the calendar is Iloilo City's Dinagyang Festival to celebrate Sto. Nino.

One of the activities to watch for is the first batchoy festival. If you're wondering why are they celebrating batchoy, this is a special noodle soup that originated in La Paz, Iloilo City. This is best-consumed when the bowl of round noodles and soup are still warm, topped with pork cracklings, innards, chicken stock, beef loin, shrimp, and vegetables, and it is highly recommended to be paired with puto or pandesal on the side, and an ice-cold drink for refreshments.

Iloilo's first batchoy festival will be held at SM Iloilo from January 23 to January 26, 2020. For more information, visit SM Iloilo's official Facebook page.
