You Can Enjoy This Dinner Inspired By Anthony Bourdain
Which dishes do you think will be on the menu?
It's been a year since chef, TV host, and writer Anthony Bourdain passed away. Even though he is probably enjoying a feast in the great unknown, fans can't help but miss him. He hosted shows like No Reservations, The Layover, and Parts Unknown that made us lust over food, made us want to connect with people beyond our shores, and inspired us to write stories.
In a Twitter post by Eric Ripert together with José Andrés, close pals of Anthony, they designated June 25 (Anthony's birthday) to be #BourdainDay-a day to share our tributes to and memories of Anthony Bourdain. We can expect an outpour of heartfelt #BourdainDay posts because there is no doubt that Bourdain made an impact all over the world.
In celebration of #BourdainDay, Chef Sharwin Tee is holding a 4-course dinner to celebrate Anthony Bourdain. Along with Chef Karla Reyes of the Plaza, they will be serving an exciting feast at U Hotel, Makati City. According to Chef Sharwin Tee, "We will be cooking four courses with each course representing something significant in Bourdain's life." There will be a cheese buffet by La Petite Fromagerie and craft beer will be served by Pedro's Brewery. The proceeds of this popup #BourdainDay dinner will go to Chef Sharwin's yearly project to build public school libraries.
What do you think will be on Chef Sharwin and Chef Karla's Bourdain-inspired menu? Do you think there will be lechon, which Bourdain once said to be the "best pig, ever!"? Will there be sisig to be paired with Pedro's craft beer? We hope so!
#BourdainDay will be held at U Hotels Makati, 5091 P. Burgos Street corner San Mateo Street, Poblacion, Makati City on June 25, 2019, starting 7 p.m. (seats are limited). A minimum donation of P1,500 is needed.
