When one thinks of Los Baños, the classic buko pie always comes to mind. Numerous establishments that offer these hot, freshly-baked buko pies dot the national highway, while some sellers peddle it on the streets and even inside buses. For those who want a totally different take on this classic dessert, you should try the Buko Cassava de Leche from Harito Foods Product.

No, you’re not dreaming! A Buko Cassava de Leche exists and it’s made of three popular Filipino desserts: buko pie, cassava cake, and leche flan. This 3-in-1 dessert doesn’t just stack the three desserts on top of each other, this is surprisingly made with a cassava cake with added buko strips and topped with a silky layer of leche flan.

Harito Foods Product owner Jerry Urriquia supports other local businesses by sourcing his ingredients from neighboring areas. Urriquia says that the buko comes from Quezon Province and Laguna, while the cassava comes from Rizal.

Harito Foods Product launched the Buko Cassava de Leche back in December 2018. According to Urriquia, he conceptualized this game-changing dessert during his four-month training in the Department of Trade and Industry’s Kapatid Mentor Me (KMME) program.

The Buko Cassava de Leche costs P150 per box (700 grams). You can order these through Harito Food Product’s two Los Baños-based branches: 2684 National Highway, Barangay Anos, Los Baños, Laguna, and National Highway, Barangay Malinta, Los Baños, Laguna.

For those up north, you can contact their Pasay City-based reseller, Mary Grace Ante, through this number (0916) 707-1433. Do take note that because of the ongoing quarantine, deliveries may be delayed.
