Bun Appetit’s Lobster Rolls Get A Delicious Makeover For Chinese New Year

Can you guess what’s different?

When in Powerplant Mall, one should try dining in at The Grid. One of the The Grid’s famous food stalls that gained popularity years before the food hall even opened is Bun Appetit. They first started selling their sought-after juicy lobster rolls at the Salcedo Saturday Market (they still do).

Would you rather pick the shrimp, crab, or lobster?

Bun Appetit is shaking things up by re-introducing their succulent seafood rolls by using bao instead of the regular bread, just in time for Chinese New Year, which will fall on January 25. The bao is tied to decades upon decades of Chinese history and culture.

The bao is tied to decades upon decades of Chinese history and culture. If you aren’t familiar with bao, this is a soft, dense, and sweetish steamed bun that is similar to what’s used in siopao. This type of steamed bun is an important food item in Chinese cuisine, this is why you can find it in most Chinese groceries and restaurants where it’s filled with sweet and savory fillings. In the case of Bun Appetit, it’s their juicy lobster, shrimp, and crab that gives it a fresh seafood flavor.

Bun Appetit’s lobster bao just might be a favorite for obvious reasons: its tender, thick lobster meat is glazed with a slightly tangy sauce. The crab bao roll will surprise you with its vibrant flavors. Of course, don’t leave without trying Bun Appetit’s underrated but oh-so-delicious Hong Kong-style garlic noodles (P150), because if anything, it simply completes the Bun Appetit experience.

Bun Appetit’s lobster, shrimp, and crab bao will be available on January 24, 2020 and these items will be priced the same as Bun Appetit’s regular rolls.
