This Mom Started Her Baking Business In Her Basement
A lot of home-based food businesses started at the height of the pandemic and Kerri Ong-Guico, like most people, found herself nestled at home with her family. Armed with culinary badges such as a degree from San Francisco's Le Cordon Bleu, she hunkered down in the family basement and started baking cakes for Chef Kerri's Baking Room.
Chef Kerri often involved the kids when it came to cake ideas, one of which is Funfetti Surprise Cake. It's a soft chiffon cake with a sprinkle surprise inside!
Her cake lineup can be described in two words: luxe and indulgent. Cakes covered in gold leaves, desserts topped with fresh fruits and flowers-the desserts are the perfect crown to any kind of celebration. Check out some of the cakes from her Mother's Day collection:
The Belles Fleurs d'Amour in Rose (P6,800) is a vanilla chiffon with cream cheese frosting, covered in a basket of strawberry chocolate-dipped pretzel sticks, and topped with fresh carnations and roses. You may get this same cake in Multicolore (P6,800), topped with fresh multi-colored carnations and roses or pick the Belles Fleurs d'Amour in Rouge (P6,800), a Belgian chocolate cake with bittersweet ganache wrapped in a basket of chocolate-dipped pretzel sticks, and adorned with fresh roses and eucalyptus.
If you want to show your Mom that she is truly the queen, the 24K Throne for the Queen of Everything (P4,800) is Belgian chocolate cake covered in 24K gold leaves, and topped with a gold crown.
