Would You Try Caldereta-Flavored Corned Beef?

Well, you should, and it makes the perfect baon, too!

Kaldereta (or caldereta) is a popular Filipino dish that is often served during special occasions. It’s a delicious beef stew typically cooked with tomato sauce, bell peppers, and thickened with some liver spread. Slices of carrots, potato, and sometimes, olives are mixed into the dish to add texture and make it even more flavorful.

There’s no denying a home-cooked kaldereta from scratch is delicious, but what if you can skip the hours of preparation in the kitchen and go straight to the dining table?

If you suddenly feel an intense kaldereta craving grumbling in your belly, one of your best options for gastronomical satisfaction is Delimondo’s Caldereta Corned Beef (P168). It’s made of beef with chunks of tomatoes and red and green bell peppers in a rich, mildly spiced tomato sauce. The corned beef chunks are so tender that it easily tears apart inside your mouth!

Instead of the usual 3 hours (or so) of preparing kaldereta, skip the cooking time and heat up a can of this instead for a few minutes—then it's ready to eat. Easy to pack and prepare for baon, too, when you're too busy to do more than open a can! Pair this with a heaping amount of steamed rice, but you can also use it with pasta, too. If you’re familiar with Delimondo’s café in Makati City, they also use this in their famous corned beef kaldereta lasagna!

You may find it difficult to find this variant since not a lot of groceries carry this product, but it is definitely worth the extra effort (and the extra calories) to hunt it down! We found our can at The Landmark, 6751 Makati Ave, Ayala Center, Makati, Metro Manila.
