This New Netflix Show Will Have You Craving Cookies, Pies, and Pastries

It's a feast for the dessert-lover's senses.

 


 

“You’re going for a cookie for the indulgence," American pastry chef Christina Tosi opens the first few seconds of Chef’s Table: Pastry, Netflix’s newest documentary series which launches April 13. Amidst visions of cookie dough and other baking ingredients, we see the Milk Bar’s pastry chef wax poetic about cookies. In the show, she is described as someone “changed the way people eat dessert on a daily basis,” by Courtney McBroom, former culinary director of Milk Bar. 

 

 

 

The show is from the same creator and director David Gelb (of Jiro Dreams of Sushi and Chef’s Table fame ), and the show goes inside the lives and kitchens of the world's most renowned international pastry chefs.

 


 

Each episode of the four-part series focuses on a single chef and takes a unique look at their life, talent, and passion, from their piece of culinary heaven. Desserts are the star of the show and we are given a peek behind the life of Christina Tosi in the kitchen and learn the history behind her wildly-popular “Crack Pie”; we are treated to a luxurious date with Italian gelato with Corrado Assenza; take in the essence of a tropical paradise with Will Goldfarb who is a pioneer of New York’s dessert-only restaurant; and gain inspiration from Spain’s Jordi Roca’s whimsical masterpieces.   

 

The Netflix original documentary series will start on April 13.
