These Dishes Will Be The Stars At Your Christmas Party
Yummy.ph readers got a headstart on their Christmas prep at the recent Yummy Academy held at the 25 Mushrooms Kitchen, Valle Verde Pasig last September 28. Co-presented by Carnation, the cooking class highlighted easy yet party-perfect dishes just in time for the holidays.

Chef LA Cedeño of 25 Mushrooms taught the class three easy recipes that highlight milk as a key ingredient. The Crab and Shrimp Linguine with White Sauce has a creamy sauce that pairs well with seafood.

The Baked Queso de Bola and Spinach Spread was a hit among the participants as it was an easy mix-it-together spread but was addicting with its herby cream flavors. "You can also just buy canned spinach, it's readily available in the grocery. You may also use camote tops," Chef LA told the class.

The No-Bake Banana Trifle was a fun activity, too. The participants gamely tried to whip the egg whites by hand to make meringue for the layered dessert. The recipes all had ingredients that were easy to source and highlighted the use of milk, not just in desserts, but also in savory party-worthy dishes.
The participants agreed that sometimes, it takes a special occasion or a life event to nudge you out of your comfort zone. Elaine Natividad is a mom to an active toddler. "Since I became a mom, there was a need to cook."

Clifford Badongen, who signed up for the class with his partner, Red Ortiz shared, "It's our first holiday together and we want something new to do during the holidays."Â He added, "We like the cozy atmosphere of the event."Â
Chelsea Jose, one of the class participants, admitted it was her first time to cook. Her boyfriend, Kevin, loves cooking and forced her to attend. They were the only ones who succeeded in whipping their egg whites by hand!

The participants shared that they will definitely try to make the dishes this Christmas. "All the ingredients are accessible!" Rhea Datuon said.
