Cook Mashed Potatoes in 3 Ways

Mashed potatoes are a reliable crowd-pleaser but that doesn't mean you can't add new flavor profiles to it. Try one of these three variations on a classic:

  • Adding bacon to mashed potatoes is a no-brainer!
  • 400 grams potatoes, cut in chunks
  • ┬╝ cup bacon strips, cooked to a crisp
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mixed herbs, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and keep warm.
  • 2 Using a whisk, gently crush the potatoes but do not mash. Mix well.
  • 3 To the cooked bacon, add onions, then cooked potatoes. Add olive oil, herbs, and seasoning. Mix with potatoes.
  • Pommes Duchesse Recipe┬á
  • This is a┬áFrench variation of mashed potato.
  • 1 kilo potatoes, cut in chunks
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 egg yolks
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1 Peel, boil, and mash the potatoes.
  • 2 Mix in butter, then the egg yolks. Season with salt and pepper.
  • 3 Using a pastry bag, pipe mixture onto a lightly greased baking pan.
  • 4 Bake at 400┬║F (200┬║C) until lightly browned.
  • Mashed Potato with Garlic and Chives Recipe┬á
  • Herbs add more dimension to this classic comfort food.
  • 1 kilo potatoes, peeled
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled
  • ┬Ż teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons warm milk
  • 8 tablespoons soft
  • butter
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chives, chopped
  • 1 Place potatoes in a pot, with enough water to cover the potatoes. Mix in salt and garlic, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 15 to 20 minutes. Drain.
