The Department of Agriculture (DA) – Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) is giving away free vegetable seeds and seedlings so you can start growing your own vegetables. By planting your own veggies, you don’t always have to rely on going to the supermarket to buy certain vegetables.Â
Amid the enhanced community quarantine because of COVID-19, different local government units distributed relief goods to their respective communities. In some communities, they were also given seeds to plant. This is a possible long-term solution that can help with food security, especially if the crisis persists.
You can get the seeds and seedlings at the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) branches located at 692 San Andres St. Malate (near LRT Quirino) and Visayas Ave., Diliman, Quezon City (near Quezon City Circle). Both these offices are open from Mondays to Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can also arrange pick-up by contacting 8525-7313 or 8524-0837.
For those who are outside Metro Manila, you can get the seeds and seedlings in your city’s Department of Agriculture regional offices. You may also contact your respective local government units, too.
