DILG Told LGUs To Lift 'Window Hours' For Buying Food And Supplies
It goes against the national government's policy.
Department of¬†Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary¬†Eduardo A√Īo¬†told local government units to remove "window hours" for going to the grocery and market to buy food and supplies. He said this goes against the national government's call for physical distancing because this will only result in a lot of people being in one place at the same time.¬†
Luzon was placed under enhanced community quarantine from March 15 to April 14, 2020 to stop the spread of COVID-19. Several LGUs have issued quarantine passes and imposed window hours to control the number of residents leaving their homes.
"I'm advising all LGUs to lift the window hours for marketing or buying¬†kasi pag naglagay ka ng¬†window hours,¬†kinukumpol-kumpol mo lang yung tao," Secretary A√Īo said in a press conference.¬†He added that everyone should be allowed to get food and other supplies for 12 hours.
Regarding quarantine passes, he said that there are no fixed rules, but he explained that one should be allowed to get basic needs without such pass.
"With our without quarantine pass, ang tao ay dapat payagan bumili ng pagkain kapag siya ang representative ng pamilya sa pagbili ng pagkain," he clarified.
