How much should you save for your Noche Buena favorites?

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has released a list of suggested retail prices (SRP) of Noche Buena staples to better guide the designated "tributes" and cooks when shopping for noche buena essentials. The price list includes noche buena staples like ham, queso de bola, and everything else you'll need to make creamy desserts, pasta, and main dishes.

Before releasing the price list, the prices and proposals sent by the companies are reviewed by the DTI Consumer Protection Group. DTI also discussed with manufacturers to evaluate decisions of price adjustments and prove cost increases, as these are products deemed a necessity, especially in the middle of a pandemic.

Undersecretary Ruth B. Castelo explained, "The process is not easy, but we appreciate the response of many companies as they want to show the bayanihan spirit by not increasing their Christmas products this year. We talked to each manufacturer to retain their 2019 prices for noche buena products."
