Here’s what you need to know.

In a press conference of the President addressing the nation, President Rodrigo Duterte said that Luzon is now under an “enhanced community quarantine” from March 16, 12 midnight until April 12, 2020. The main elements are the following, according to the definitions from the Department of Health (DOH):

1 A stricter home quarantine will be implemented in all households.

2 Food and health essentials will be regulated.

3 Mass public transport facilities shall be suspended.

4 There will be heightened enforcement of military personnel.

In a press conference today, March 16, 2020, President Duterte said, “Movement of everyone will be significantly limited. Everyone will stay at home, leaving only to get food. Establishments providing basic services will remain open,” he said.

In a separate press conference on March 16, Cabinet secretary Karlo Nograles added, everyone is on “strict home quarantine except for basic needs.” According to Nograles, groceries, food preparation and food delivery services, banks, pharmacies, and other establishments providing basic services shall remain open. It is recommended that only one person will go out for basic services per household. It is still unclear whether you may order from GrabFood or Foodpanda.
