This YouTuber Loves Filipino Chicken Adobo
He said it's "one of the greatest chicken dishes of all time."
It's normal for Filipinos to love chicken adobo no matter how it was made, but when someone who is not a Pinoy praises the dish, you know it's got to be something special.
"This is a very common Filipino food that, in my opinion, is one of the greatest chicken dishes of all time," said Joshua Weissman, chef and YouTube personality, in his video entitled "Easy Authentic Chicken Adobo At Home" posted last July 7.
"There's actually a lot of really good chicken dishes that I like. I get really excited about adobo because I'm a big fan of it. It's tender. It's rich. It's salty. It's sweet. It's acidic. It's everything you want and it's beautiful on a plate of rice or you can use it for anything."
He proves this by not only cooking his version of chicken adobo, but even uses the leftovers to make adobo gyoza.
Weismann is not the only personality who has fallen in love with adobo. The "Domestic Goddess" Nigella Lawson loved pork adobo when she visited the Philippines back in 2016. "The one dish that I'm going to be concentrating on perfecting when I get home is pork adobo," she said. She tasted four different kinds of it during her visit.
The late Anthony Bourdain, chef, food writer, and best known as the host of "Parts Unknown" and "No Reservations", found the chicken and pork adobo he had when he visited the Philippines for "Parts Unknown" was "amazing". "It's really, really good," he said.
