How do you win a nationwide baking competition? By using the best ingredients and flavors that the country has to offer, of course!
Flourish: Bake It Happen is a Universal Robina Corporation Flour Division-sponsored baking contest that aims to find talent across the country. Students enrolled in the culinary arts nationwide showcased their masterpieces in the bread and cake categories.
Last October 30, the winning pastries were awarded: Pan de Choco Bacon by Jolina Maralan and Mary Lisette Mobe, Dragon Fruit Choco Mousse Cake by Jhoanne Cabahug and Miyuki Carcasona, humba-filled bread by Ralph Sarmiento and Olivia Opamil, and a vanilla and chocolate Duo Dome Sponge Cake by Andrea Lucia Carreon and Nessvi Miranda.
The winners received an internship in a prestigious hotel and restaurant, a feature in Yummy magazine, as well as trophies, certificates, and prizes from sponsors which included Masflex, Kitchen Aid, Sonlie International, Bakersfield Non-Dairy Whipping Cream, Cook n' Bake Butter Concentrate, RM Boxes, Coco Natura, and Yummy magazine.
