This year, the Yummy Good Food Awards still acknowledges that food is essential. However, we also recognize that good food — and not just any food for that matter — is even more important. This year's edition of the Yummy Good Food Awards is back!
In the new normal, we see fewer restrictions on going out and more freedom to visit other supermarkets and groceries to discover new food products. The role of food has now become more than just about sustaining ourselves during a time of crisis; it has transformed into finding food that not only nourishes us but also lets us relish the experience of eating delicious food again at home.
We started the Yummy Good Food Awards last year with the idea that everyone needs to know what good food is and compiled some of the most common and well-loved supermarket food items that many of us keep in stock in our kitchens. This year, the Yummy Good Food Awards still acknowledges that food is essential. However, we also recognize that good food - and not just any food for that matter - is even more important.
Good food can be food that you taste, whether cooked in a dish or on its own, and that you find delicious. It can be an essential ingredient in creating a good dish. Good food can be the favorite food product that you always pick up during every shopping trip because you eat it every day.
Finding the food that you consider to be good however is trickier. How will you know it's good? It can be a hit or miss if you have not tasted it before and that can make you hesitate to try it. That's why the Yummy Good Food Awards recognize tried-and-tested favorite ingredients as well as new food products by doing some of the testings and tastings for you.
This year, our judges tried over 100 food products. We included the same categories of food that made your food experience so much better during the pandemic and added a few more categories that made sense to our new normal. From the original eight categories and 36 food products, we expanded our list to 12 categories and over 40 food products so we could give focus on those food products that became indispensable in our current food lives.
Christmas is just weeks away, so we're taking extra time to make the Yummy Good Food Awards 2022: Holiday Edition better this year as well. Watch out for the announcement of the winners of that later this month.
Just like last year, we taste-tested some of our favorite brands in these food categories to see which would surpass the others based on these three main criteria:
You can learn more about the criteria and categories for the Yummy Good Food Awards 2022 here.
