Baguio's Good Shepherd Made Pink Ube Jam For VP Leni Robredo
This pink ube jam was made especially for her recent visit to Baguio City.
During a recent trip of presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo to Baguio City, one of the food items that was served is a pink-hued Ube Jam from Good Shepherd. According to Sister Guadalupe Bautista of the Good Shepherd Convent, the pink Ube Jam was made for Robredo's visit.
Yummy.ph got to talk to Sister Guada and she told us that they're still getting the pink color right and despite the color change it still tastes the same as their regular Ube Jam. She adds, "[We're] using beets for natural color. We use white ube as base."
Good Shepherd's Ube Jam has always sported a vibrant, deep purple color, and there was a short time it became white because of a purple yam shortage. For Robredo's visit to the City of Pines, the sisters of Good Shepherd turned their Ube Jam pink, Robredo's campaign color, using the white ube jam and mixed it with beets.
As of writing, Sister Guada says that the pink Ube Jam is not for sale. Hopefully, once they have perfected getting the right pink color that they will soon offer this to the public.
