This Local Restaurant Helps Displaced Tricycle Drivers By Hiring Them To Deliver Food

Do you know about this hidden restaurant in UP Diliman's campus?

One of the pains brought about by the global pandemic is the displacement of workers and loss of income. Thankfully, there are restaurants like Gubat where you can enjoy a meal and help the displaced working class at the same time.

Gubat is an al fresco restaurant that serves Pinoy homecooked meals. The owners of the restaurant are helping the displaced tricycle drivers in the area by hiring them as delivery staff of the Quezon City-based restaurant.

You can have Gubat’s delicious Filipino meals delivered to your doorstep (except the pako salad and burong kanin). Here is the menu available as of May 14, 2020:

The areas that are covered by Gubat’s own delivery are Katipunan, Krus na Ligas, Sikatuna, Teachers’ Village, UP Village, and UP Campus. The delivery fee of P100 will go to the tricycle drivers.

But for those who are not within these areas, you can still order in advance. You’ll have to book a delivery courier (like Angkas, Grab, Lalamove) and shoulder its additional fees.

Gubat is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays, starting from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. You can place your order by sending a text message or Viber message to (0966) 627-1522, at least two hours ahead of the preferred delivery schedule. Payment options can be made through Cash, BPI online transfer, or cash on delivery.
