Jollibee Group Increases Donations For Food Aid Program
The food aid is going straight to the frontliners and families in need.
Jollibee Group has increased its initial food donation to help frontliners and families cope through the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Jollibee Foods Corporation, the P120-million donation of the Jollibee Group is in addition to the 100 million pesos worth of food already donated by the company. The total now amounts to a cool P220 million. These funds seek to support the 1.5 million Filipino families who need it food aid during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). The ECQ has been in effect since March 16 to curb the rising number of confirmed patients of this coronavirus strain.
The food donation is part of Project Ugnayan, a project under the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) which is the Philippines' major private sector vehicle and coordinator for disaster management. "We are indeed stronger together as we fight COVID-19," Jollibee Group Chairman and Founder Tony Tan Caktiong said.
The food packs will contain food from the Jollibee Group brands which include Jollibee, Chowking, Mang Inasal, Red Ribbon, Greenwich, Burger King, Panda Express, and PHO24, and its commissary Zenith Foods, Inc. and its different store teams.
As of press time 4 p.m. April 17, 2020, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has now risen to 5,878.
