Kalyehon Cafe is a business that was created and is currently operated by the Buxani family. Richard Buxani, a full-time artist, aims to offer the immersive artistic experience to locals without the need to travel to Metro Manila.

He and his wife, who are long-time coffee enthusiasts, briefly operated a small cafe just a few years ago. Now with better opportunities and support from their children, Isis and Seth, who are also artists and coffee-lovers, the family decided to bring their passions to fruition.

Fun fact: The name of the cafe, kalyehon, is derived from the Spanish word "Callejon," which translates to the Tagalog word, eskinita. This is because the cafe is situated within a small and narrow alley that is primarily accessible by foot or small vehicles like bikes or motorcycles.

Going along with the local theme, the design and aesthetic of Kalyehon Cafe can be described as an eclectic mix of Filipino vintage and modern architecture and interior design. You'll definitely spot pieces and areas reminiscent of a traditional Filipino home!

As an art gallery, Richard's works serve as the mainstay in one part of the gallery. Other artists find a home for their art here, too, but they change on a monthly basis ranging from private collections to for-selling pieces.

Both the cafe and the art spaces showcase structures and fixtures built from recycled materials and junk shop finds that were repurposed with modern, and borderline minimalist sensibilities.
