KFC's Plant-Based "Fried Chicken" Looks A Lot Like the Real Thing

Imagine a crispy, juicy treat that looks like chicken, feels like chicken, and pretty much tastes like chicken... but isn't made of chicken, or any other animal products, for that matter. Sounds too good to be true? KFC now has it on the menu with their Beyond Fried Chicken, which they'll be releasing in more than 50 Southern California locations in Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego beginning July 20 until supplies last.

The Beyond Fried Chicken is a plant-based take on KFC's famous fried chicken, and remarkably holds a fibrous texture that pulls apart just like the poultry. Developed with plant-based company Beyond Meat, it debuted in 2019, initially made available for one day in Atlanta. After additional product development, they released it in Nashville and Charlotte in February 2020, for a limited time.
While we ourselves aren't on a plant-based diet, we'd try this at least once-and if no beings are harmed in the process, then that can only be a good thing. Our fingers are crossed Beyond Fried Chicken makes it to the Philippines, too!
