Living a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle is not readily accessible for everyone, nor does everyone have the budget to do so. Maybe, that's about to change as KFC recently rolled out plant-based chicken alternatives.

It's a huge leap from being the brand that is known for juicy Kentucky Fried Chicken to one that could possibly make faux chicken meat as a staple on their menu. Last May, Kevin Hochman, the president of KFC's US Business, was meeting with a company that makes alternative meat. He tells Business Insider, "If you would have asked me six months ago, I would have said no, to be completely honest with you. Because we're about fried chicken."

Since there has been a demand for meatless options, KFC teamed up with Beyond Meat to create Beyond Fried Chicken. For those who are not familiar with Beyond Meat, this is a company that produces plant-based meat substitutes, such as the Beyond Burger-that's available in Grand Hyatt Manila, Beyond Beef, Beyond Sausage, and Beyond Beef Crumbles.

The new Beyond Fried Chicken is a plant-based fried chicken that is only available at one KFC branch in Atlanta for now Whether it will be available in more locations or to be sold nationally, will depend on the feedback of the customers.
