Meet Kit Kat's New Limited-Edition Flavor: Salted Caramel Popcorn!

Salty or sweet? It's a little bit of both.

When it comes to chocolate flavors, Kit Kat is one that is available in almost every flavor you can think of. There's never a shortage of flavors! From its classic milk chocolate flavor, dark chocolate, white chocolate, to something as unorthodox as sweet corn, New York cheesecake, and apple vinegar, Kit Kat has them all.

The newest Kit Kat that we found in our local groceries and convenience stores may not be as adventurous, when compared to all the other flavors Kit Kat has come up with. This flavor is nonetheless a well-executed flavor that people with a sweet tooth will appreciate: meet the Kit Kat Salted Caramel Popcorn.

What you need to know

Kit Kat's Salted Caramel Popcorn is a flavor that was recently launched in other neighboring countries like Singapore. This limited-edition flavor is made with Kit Kat's signature smooth milk chocolate dusted with crusty salted caramel flakes, encasing layers of freshly-baked crispy wafer with salted caramel praline.

What we love about it

Yes, the Salted Caramel Popcorn isn't exactly an adventurous Kit Kat flavor. Once you take a bite, though, you'll discover you can taste all the individual flavors-salt, caramel, popcorn, and chocolate-distinctly. There are small bouts of saltiness coming from the popcorn that accentuates the sweetness of the milk chocolate.

Kit Kat could have taken the easy route and gone for milk chocolate and added sea salt or salt flakes to easily achieve the contrasting but harmonious blend of flavors, but choosing to get the saltiness from the popcorn? It adds a fun and child-like approach to it, as all desserts should feel like.

We recommend indulging in this chocolate as is or crushing it and sprinkling it on top of plain vanilla ice cream. If you have time, you can experiment and use it for making cheesecakes!

Where to get it

You can find these in most groceries and convenience stores, but we spotted it at Rustan's Supermarket, 7-Eleven, and Pioneer Center, Pasig. It comes in a mini two-bar pack that costs P24 to P33, depending on where you buy it.
