The Sweet Potato is a recent autumn flavor released in 2019 and it’s inspired by sweet potatoes, a beloved snack enjoyed during autumn. According to an interview on the video series ‘Great Big Story’, the marketing manager of Nestle Japan Yuji Takeuchi says that this specific Kit Kat flavor is attributed to the island of Kyushu.

The Chestnut variant is an autumn flavor first launched in 2018 and features white chocolate-covered wafers filled with sweet chestnut cream. On the other hand, the Apple Pie is offered as part of Kit Kat Japan’s “Halloween Break” line. The wafers have an apple pie-flavored cream in between, then the outside is coated in a purple-hued apple pie-flavored chocolate.
