Have A Delicious Meal + Travel Back In Time at Las Casas in QC
You'd never guess that you would find a heritage home on a busy street along Quezon City. Las Casas in Quezon City is a sprawling property along Roosevelt Avenue, previously owned by the Juico family and acquired by the Acuzar family. The main house, Casa Juico, is decked out in lovely Art deco details and provides an opulent backdrop for the Spanish dishes served in Las Casas Manila, the in-house restaurant by Margarita Fores.
The space takes you back to a more posh, elegant time and the restaurant's Spanish dishes are fit for a celebration. "We wanted to match the architecture and the feel of Las Casas so the food we serve here is Spanish food," shared chef Gerald Montelibano, the executive sous chef of Cibo di M.
The current menu boasts a selection of familiar Spanish dishes: the Beef Tenderloin Salpicao has all the garlicky savory flavors you love in hefty cuts of beef medallions; the Chuletas de Cordero is a plateful of tender lamb chops with a sauce to provide contrast to the the succulent and robust meat; and the Paella Marinara has briny flavors in every spoonful. Complete the meal with a slice of their indulgent Tres Leches Cake, light and milky with a cake base that has a dense crumb.
The Las Casas Manila property aims to bring the Las Casas Filipinas de Azucar experience to Quezon City. The same women artisans who helped build the colonial-style buildings in the Bataan resort were also tapped to help with the Juico property. The Acuzars are currenty building rooms and separate Spanish colonial-style houses in the Quezon City property to complete the history book experience and provide a haven in the busy city.
