This Soft Pastel Pastry Is Made Especially For Ube Fans!
Are you familiar with this famous pasalubong from CDO?
Have you ever been to Cagayan de Oro? If you have or know someone who has, you've probably tried a delicacy called pastel. These are soft buns with a sweet filling sold by a popular bakery called Vjandep Bakeshop in Camiguin. But if you want to try a totally different take on the pastel, the Metro Manila-based Leches Bakery offers pastel in three different flavors: Yema, Ube, and Nutella.
The Yema Pastel is the most basic one, which is made with pillowy soft buns filled with a generous amount of yema custard then topped with buttercream and queso de bola. The two unique flavors are the Ube Pastel, which is made with ube-flavored soft buns filled with ube custard, topped with buttercream and ube queso de bola, and the Nutella Pastel, which is made with chocolate-flavored soft buns stuffed with the classic Nutella, topped with buttercream and chocolate queso de bola.
Leches Bakery's Pastel (P320/half dozen of Yema Pastel only, P320/half dozen of Ube Pastel only, P350/half dozen of Nutella Pastel only, and P350/half dozen and assorted) are available to order via their website.
