Did You Know That Celebrity Stylist Liz Uy Now Has A Cookie Business?

We know Liz Uy for being an It girl, a celebrity stylist, a former fashion editor, and an influencer but before all the glitz and glamour, she was once a young kid who spent her time baking in the kitchen.

She started with Milo chocolate balls. "[I was] thinking I was baking when really, I was just rolling Milo with milk," she shares. Liz would also spend afternoons watching in awe how the house helps made leche flan, palitaw, and panaderia-style doughnuts.

Baking might be a hobby for some, but Liz actually pursued her passion for cooking. She took up Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management in De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde Manila when she was still studying. During her college days, she would always cook, or as Liz puts it, "try to cook and follow recipes on the back of pancake boxes."

In December 2016, she rediscovered her love for cooking and baking. She decided to take courses at Center For Asian Culinary Studies with mentors like Chef Gene Gonzalez and Chef Jun de Guzman, two of the most famous and talented chefs in the Philippines.

"So there, I did cookies, cake, and pies whenever I can." Fast forward to today: Liz recently put up her own cookie business, Mood Bake. She called it as such because she only baked when she was in the mood to spend time in the kitchen. But now, she admits to being always in the mood to whip up a batch of freshly-baked cookies.

For now, the only kind of cookie baking at the Mood Bake HQ is their signature Mood Bake: Chunky Chocolate Chip Cookies (P990/box of 10; P990/two boxes of 5). On the outside, these cookies have a golden-brown and slightly-crunchy edge, plus it's studded with a lot of chocolate chips (Yey, for home bakers who don't scrimp on the chocolate chips!). But the insides of these cookies are a cookie dough fan's dream: thick and chewy with a sweet cookie dough-like center. And because they deliver these freshly-baked, you'll bite into warm ooey-gooey chocolatey bits!

Even though Liz's favorite childhood cookies include Oreos with a thick filling, it is with her cookie journey with Mood Bake that made her dream cookie come to life: "Chocolatey, ooey-gooey in the center, fluffy, golden brown outside, dream-like cookie. I made my dream come true!"
