Go Beyond Mango Sticky Rice At This Thai Resto
They have a Thai dessert that's like maja blanca!
If your go-to orders at any Thai resto are Pad Thai and Tom Yum Soup, we're with you! These popular Thai dishes are the perfect mix of all the Asian flavors we love: sweet, tangy, sour, herby, and lots of coconut and peanut flavors. Luckily for us Manila folks, we no longer have to book a flight to sample other Asian cuisines. Mango Tree, which recently revamped their menu, will nudge you to go out of your Thai food comfort zone with their new additions to the menu.
The classic Pad Thai is still there, a plateful of playful textures from the crunchy peanuts, crisp bean sprouts, the soft, chewy noodles, and the firm tofu.
Make sure to save space in your belly for these new items: Stir-fried Crab in Curry Sauce (PhadPhongKaRee), a simple yet delicious crabmeat dish with egg and yellow curry sauce; and the Thai Tapioca Dumplings(SakooSai Moo), a street favorite made with steamed tapioca balls seasoned with ground pork and ground peanuts.
If you're in the mood for a delicious dessert, go for the Tako Khao Phod (P220/four pieces), a coconut custard with sweet corn. It will remind you of our our local Maja Blanca, but what sets it apart is that the Tako Khao Phod is steamed with a banana leaf which gives it a different layer of flavor.
