Raul Matias, the head chocolatier and the owner of Manila Chocolatier, created 15 different flavors highlighting the flavors of the Philippines (P2,000). Imagine biting into chocolate pralines with flavors such as Leche Flan (egg custard), Bukayo (coconut), Mango, Banana Cue, Muscovado Nougat, Salabat (ginger), Pili Nut, Lambanog (coconut wine), Buko Pandan, Jasmine Tea (which comes from the Sampaguita family), Panotsa Caramel, Kalamansi, Barako Coffee, Palawan Honey, and a big favorite, Ube (purple yam). All of these chocolate pralines are made with cacao sourced from plantations in Davao, while each flavor is accompanied by a colorful Pinoy silhouette design.

Look at that ube filling!

All of these chocolate praline flavors have a hard dark chocolate shell–with the exception of the Jasmine Tea, which is hugged by chocolate, and the Ube-flavored praline that has a milk chocolate shell. What we love about the Ube chocolate praline is that it has a soft ube halaya filling made from real ube. Its sweet and earthy flavors do not overpower the sweetness of the milk chocolate.

If you want something different but equally chocolatey, Raul says that Manila Chocolatier’s milk chocolate-dusted Pili Nuts (P650) are one of the bestsellers for chocolate fans, too. Manila Chocolatier also offers White Chocolate bars in Calamansi and Ube flavors, Mango Milk Chocolate bars, and Dark Chocolate Bars in Pili Nut, Barako Coffee, and Coconut flavors.
