Over 300 industry experts in Asia voted for our very own Margarita Fores as the Best Female Chef for 2016. The founder of Italian restaurant Cibo and catering business Cibo di M, Fores has successfully introduced traditional Italian cuisine to Filipinos via Cibo while championing local producers and organic ingredients. She also has other restaurants namely Lusso and Grace Park.
Fores is known for her mastery in Italian cooking but she is also a staunch advocate of Filipino cuisine. She co-authored Kulinarya, which puts together regional recipes and cooking practices in the Philippines.
According to William Drew, Group Editor of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, Fores is “a true leader in her country’s restaurant sector, her dedication, culinary skills and pioneering efforts have elevated the dining scene in the Philippines and set a new benchmark for other chefs and restaurateurs to follow.”
Fores will be presented with the award on February 29, 2016 during the fourth annual Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants awards ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand.
