The Department of Agriculture (DA) will implement Executive Order 124, imposing a 60-day price ceiling on pork and chicken products in Metro Manila starting February 8, 2021. This executive order was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday to address the struggle of households with the rising prices of food.
According to the Department of Agriculture's post, these are the prices of pork and chicken during the 60-day price ceiling in the National Capital Region:
Starting February 8, 2021, kasim or pigue will be priced at P270, while liempo will cost P300. As for poultry products, a dressed chicken will cost P160.
According to the price monitoring of DA this February 3, 2021 (five days before the implementation of the price ceiling), kasim's prevailing price is at P350/kilo, liempo's prevailing price is at P390/kilo, and a whole chicken's prevailing price is at P170/kilo. The price ceiling will result in a P10-P90 price decrease.
