Canned Milk Now Exists, Thanks To San Miguel Corporation
This extends the shelf life from seven days to six months!
San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has figured out milk packaging that allows carabao milk to be sterilized and stored in aluminum cans without the use of preservatives.
CNN reports the corporation is using "retort technology" for its packaging that extends the shelf life of carabao milk from seven days to six months.
Ramon Ang, president and chief operating officer of SMC, shares on his Facebook, that the new packaging will be used by the Philippine Carabao Center and its farmer cooperatives to supply 40,000 liters of carabao milk to the Department of Social Welfare and Development's DSWD) and Department of Education's (DepEd) national feeding program.
Ang adds, "I can still remember last year when we promised to develop this packaging format for our farmers at the height of the pandemic. Thank you to our teams at San Miguel Packaging Group for coming through on our promise, and exceeding expectations! We are honored to play even a small role in our government's efforts to address hunger and food insecurity, especially in these trying times. Indeed, we can accomplish great things when we work together."
