Drop by one of these bread kiosks in selected gas stations and you might score free bread.
According to a press release on the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) website, selected gas stations in poor urban areas will have a bread kiosk where free bread will be available. The gas stations targeted will be Petron gas stations and the areas include Payatas, Caloocan, Malolos, and Tondo, among others.
The free bread that will be available at these kiosks will be the Nutribun, a bread that is described as a “ready-to-eat complete meal.”

What makes this bread so nutritious?
SMC claims that the bread weighs in at a whopping 85 grams per bun. This is more than 50 grams heftier than regular-sized pandesal. Plus, eating one Nutribun, which is 250 calories, is like eating around 1 1/4 cups rice.
This will be in partnership with local government units or LGUs, the release said.
“We hope this feeding program will help sustain many of our countrymen who are struggling through these difficult times. As a company that has food as one of its main businesses, we believe no Filipino should go hungry despite the hardships we’re facing today. We are committed to doing our part to making sure this goal is achieved however way we can,” SMC president and chief operating officer (COO) Ramon S. Ang said.
The conglomerate said that it has already contributed over P13-billion in response to the pandemic, P516-million in food donations as of the end of June.
