This Takoyaki Bake Is What You Need If You’re Tired Of Regular Sushi Bake

This deconstructed takoyaki has whole baby octopus and bonito flakes on top. Yum!

Is the sushi bake trend getting a little too boring for you? Luckily, there are many different sushi bake types you can try if you want something different, such as the samgyup bake, shawarma bake, and our tapsilog bake recipe. If you need more sushi bake versions, we found another sushi bake version from Caloocan City-based food business The Kitchen MNL. Meet the Takoyaki Bake.

The Takoyaki Bake is the perfect sushi bake for fans of takoyaki, a ball-shaped Japanese snack stuffed with octopus. The Kitchen MNL makes this deconstructed takoyaki by layering takoyaki rice made flavorful with takoyaki sauce and teriyaki sauce, followed by a creamy and cheesy crabstick mixture, and then topped with whole baby octopus and lots of “swaying” bonito flakes. The top of the Takoyaki Bake is torched to give it a bit of a smoky flavor.

You can eat the Takoyaki Bake straight from the tin casserole, but you can also eat it à la sushi bake, too. Just scoop a spoonful of the Takoyaki Bake (make sure you get every layer!) and wrap it around a nori sheet before taking one huge bite.

The Kitchen MNL’s Takoyaki Bake costs P600/small and P1,000/medium. You can place your order by messaging them on Instagram. Do take note that The Kitchen MNL is closed every Monday and Wednesday.
