Tres Leches And Leche Flan Make Up The Layers Of This Dreamy Cake
A match made in dessert heaven!
One way chefs and homebakers bring new life to classic desserts is by combining old favorites like on this bibingka and Japanese cheesecake hybrid or this cinnamon-roll-and-apple-pie combo. In fact, we found another unique amalgamation of two famous sweet treats and it sounds like a match made in dessert heaven: Online bakeshop The Sweet Life by Ange puts a Pinoy favorite and a South American classic together on their Tres Leches Leche Flan cake!
As its name suggests, this cake is composed of both the milk-soaked tres leches cake as well as the syrupy leche flan; a combination that seems to defy gravity. A layer of leche flan is sandwiched between two layers of tres leches and the result is a sweet tooth's fantasy come true. The combination of textures from leche flan's thick, custard-like consistency and tres leches' spongy, ultra-moist quality gives both balance and variety to each bite.
The luxurious and sinful combination of desserts that make up the layers of the cake are enrobed in a light, whipped cream frosting and topped with crunchy bits of honeycomb and finished off with caramel sauce dripping down the body. Now that's a cake worthy of a big celebration!

Plus, we have some exciting news for ube fans out there: The cake also comes in an ube variation that features two layers of tres leches flavored by the popular purple yam with leche flan in between.
