Chris Urbano's famous YouTube channel, Maputing Cooking, which translates to "the white foreigner who loves to cook food," is the very reason this Australian home chef was catapulted into being a cooking internet sensation. Through his hundreds of videos featuring the Filipino cuisine and Filipino culture, he has earned the praises of our kababayans and brings Pinoy cuising to the global stage.

Urbano recently published his own cookbook, The World of Filipino Cooking: Food and Fun in the Philippines and describes his book to be "an account of my discovery and interpretations of Filipino food told through the eyes of a foreign-noy, or a 'foreigner with the heart of a Filipino.'"

In The World of Filipino Cooking, he gets to share his own step-by-step recipes on how to make Filipino-favorites such as the Chicken and Pork Adobo, Lumpiang Shangai, and the Sinigang (Tamarind Beef Soup). He also takes you to different regions of our archipelago through exotic dishes, such as the Pinikpikan from the Cordillera region, Adobong Puti from Visayas, and the Chicken in Spicy Coconut from Bicol.

Urbano's cookbook also highlights his culinary skills with fusion dishes like the Taro Leaf Pesto Linguine (Laing Linguine) which is an East-meets-West dish that started with a craving for Pesto Linguine. On the other hand, The Sydneysider Longganisa Baked Eggs, a not-your-ordinary longsilog dish, is made with Vigan longganisa, baked eggs, and garlic rice, or sourdough bread. The Hong Kong-Style Steamed Fish, on the other hand, is one of Urbano's many innovations that was inspired by a truly Filipino experience. This recipe's origin started at the famous dampa palutuan at Seaside, where he first tried eating a steamed black grouper, or as we know it, the lapu-lapu.

This cookbook is Chris Urbano's gift to those who are eager to discover and fall in love again with the vast range of dishes and flavors our county as to offer. It reads as a 144-page love letter to the numerous Filipinos and expat Filipino families across the globe, reminding them that they can always have a taste of home wherever they may be.
