There’s no denying that we love food and we are willing to spend what we can for it. That’s why it’s heartbreaking to suddenly realize what could have been tonight’s dinner has, unfortunately, gone bad. It’s a daunting task, but how does one keep an eye on all the food that’s in your refrigerator every day?
Meet Ovie Smarterware: the first smart food storage system that can track a food’s expiration date. The brain behind it is Ovie’s SmartTags which has a light indicator to track the food’s shelf life. The LED light on these tags changes from green to yellow to red according to when you tagged it. The green light means it’s freshly tagged and should be fresh, yellow light means you should consume this food soon or immediately, and the red light means it’s probably no longer good for consumption.
This smarterware has three key functions: smart notification, fridge overview, and recipe search. The smart notification alerts you when the food is close to its expiration date, while the fridge overview is the summary of food you have tagged. Lastly, the recipe search function that filters recipes based on the food you have in the refrigerator and its timeline.
To make things easier, Ovie Smartware is also producing containers and clips where you can insert these SmartTags. But the best thing about it is the Universal Connectors, which allows you connect the tags to anything — from a carton of milk to last night’s takeout food. If it’s got a container, it can be tagged!
If investing on a smart refrigerator isn’t in the budget, the Ovie Smartware is surely worth considering! Check out their Kickstarter campaign here.
