A Popular Fried Chicken Shop Shows Support For Jollibee After 'Toweljoy' Scandal
They want to "find the truth behind the current issue," too.
Just in case you missed one of the biggest news this week: a customer ordered fried chicken from Jollibee but received a deep-fried towel instead. The poster has called it "toweljoy" (towel + Chickenjoy).
A day after it was posted, Jollibee released a statement saying that they have closed down the Jollibee franchise to further investigate what happened and to retrain the employees so that this would not happen again.
People have made memes of what happened all over social media, but a popular fried chicken shop from the 80s called Tom Sawyer's Old Fashioned Krispy Chicken did just the opposite. In a Facebook post, it showed its support for Jollibee, acknowledging the restaurant as a fellow fast-food chain in the fried chicken industry.
The post says, "On behalf of all fellow lovers and purveyors of great fried chicken, Tom Sawyer's expresses its support to our esteemed competitor's quest to find the truth behind the current issue."
