Imagine creamy not-too-sweet ube halaya mixed in with buko cream filling held by a firm pie crust. This is what you get when you order from the Ube Buko Pie from Pampanga-based home baker Bread Inbox.
The Ube Buko Pie (P160) is a new product they introduced when the COVID-19 quarantine started. “Not only is ube a Filipino favorite, we also had to innovate to boost our sales. We also realized that ube has been added to almost everything, from ube cheese pandesal to ube crinkles, but no one has really seen an ube buko pie,” shares Juliana Manansala of Bread Inbox.
The business is based in Lubao, Pampanga and the main market for their pastries and breads were the bus chain stops where people may buy pasalubong. Because travel has been put on hold, Bread Inbox had to find a way to stay afloat and they started selling to the online market.
“Our bestseller has always been the buko pie, but now it’s also the Ube Buko Pie! We’re also working on new products that will bring a fresh twist to the online market,” adds Manansala. Bread Inbox also sells buko tarts, ensaymada, bibingka, and ube cheesedesal.
Bread Inbox delivers to Lubao, Guagua and San Fernando in Pampanga, Bulacan, Bataan, Zambales, Olongapo City, Angeles City, and Metro Manila (on specific days only).
