Steak is a no-brainer option for Valentine’s, and if there’s any homegrown establishment that knows the dish by heart, it’s Elbert’s Steak Room. Their St. Valentine’s 2023 set menu (P8,000/person) ticks all the right boxes with oysters, caviar, foie gras, strawberries, and your choice between the Double Gold Tenderloin Medallion or Double Gold Striploin as your main. If your love language involves exchanging sweet nothings over plates of Spanish and Mediterranean fare, Terraza Martinez is the place to book. The BGC establishment’s got a six-course menu available on February 14 (P2,995/head) with everything from salmon gravlax, duck (confited and stuffed into tacos), and Iberico pork (presa Iberica to be exact) plus more. Sagana
French food for Valentine’s is a no-fail, and BGC’s Sagana is one spot that does the cuisine justice. Their four-course Valentine’s menu (P2,250/person) shines the spotlight on Chef Marc Aubry’s great handle on classic French fare, with courses like the Warm Mushroom, Farmed Chicken & Duck Foie Gras Pate in Puff Pastry appetizer; Seared Hitachiwagyu Beef Chuck Roll; and the Iced Fresh Strawberry & French Vanilla Bavarois Cream for dessert. One World Kitchen
When you think of Valentine’s food it’s likely Western or continental fare that comes to mind—but there’s totally no reason you can’t bring in Asian flavors to the mix. Let One World Kitchen’s Valentine’s Day menu (by Babu’s Chef Him Uy de Baron!) show you how. Expect East-meets-West dishes that include the Warm Salad of Baby Carrots (glazed with shoyu caramel), Shio Broiled Prawn (with the seafood cured in kombu), and the Braveheart Beef Wellington (with an apple-teriyaki beef jus). How’s about a swoon-inducing Valentine’s dinner with a dose of history on the side? Palacio di Memoria’s joining forces with Chef Margarita Fores’ Cibo di Marghi with a special menu for the occasion, with the resulting rate per head depending on the main course you go for: chicken (P3,800), fish (P4,000), or beef (P4,500). This is available on the 14th and they’ll be having a live ensemble performing, too. La Vie en Rose
Should you and your S.O. prefer to seclude yourselves from the world, La Vie en Rose—which is in a semi-hidden location in the residential area of Poblacion—is the place to book for V-day. The hush-hush spot’s coming out with a five-course candlelit tasting menu for the 14th, and you can get it with chicken (P2,800), salmon (P3,200), or ribeye steak (P3,900) as your main. Vegetarian options are also available upon request. Heck, why not go all the way and go for the wine- (P1,200/person) or cocktail- (P1,500) pairing option to go with it, and a bouquet of flowers (P2,500) to boot? Gianetto Pizzeria
For an extra-fab celebration of the season of hearts, consider the upcoming Degustacion Le Queen event of San Juan’s Gianetto Pizzeria. Not only will you (and/or your S.O.) get to dig into a five-course meal of playful European eats—think Halibut Fillet in Lime Coconut Milk, Currywurst in Potato Pave, and so on—as jazz tunes play in the background; they’ll also be having the Eva Le Queen (of Drag Race Season 1!) hosting the dinner. This underrated Makati gem’s serving up Spanish flavors with their San Valentin menu from February 10 to 19. With tapas, starters, a main (choose from steak, sea bass or Iberico pork!), desserts, and wine included in the lineup, it covers all the (arguable) essentials. Ninyo
With its lush garden setting, this fine-dining oasis in QC is romantic pretty much any time of the year. You can only imagine how much more so come Valentine’s day, especially as they’ve got an eight-course set menu (P4,000/head) inspired by the world of flora and going by the Filipino motif Ninyo’s known for. Just some of the courses you can look forward to are the Trunk (with hickory bark-smoked quail), Flower (an artichoke chawanmushi), and Leaf (with shiso leaf and grilled U.S. black cod). Your Local’s loved for their fun spins on Asian classics and clever tie-ups between the cuisines of the continent, courtesy of Chef Patrick Go.
