You need not fly to France to sample the finest wines from the region: Sofitel’s Wine Days 2014 lets you enjoy bottles from the vineyards of France this October. Choose from the different activities for both the wine-curious and passionate enthusiast.
BRUNCH WITH ROBERT PARKER’S WINE
La Veranda, October 26, 12noon to 3pm
Indulge and sample rich flavors via a wine fair featuring bottles rated by wine critic Robert Parker. The sampling will feature a selection of 30 bottles, both for sampling and retail purchases.
The brunch is priced at P3, 332+++ per person.
FROM GRAPES TO WINE EXPO AT SPIRAL
La Veranda, October 26-October 31
Daily degustation from 5:30pm to 6pm
Know the journey of the grape from the vine to wine through a colorful visual display at the La Veranda. Featured wines include bottles from Hugel & Filsto, a winery in Riquewihr, Alsace, France and one of the major producers of Alsace wine.
PRIVATE WINE AND CHEESE CLASS
Spiral L’Epicerie (Cheese Room), October 27-31, 4:30pm to 5:30pm
Enjoy wine and cheese pairing sessions featuring Sofitel’s assortment of artisanal cheeses and wines from different regions such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, Alsace, Rhône Valley, and Languedoc-Roussillon.
Classes may accommodate 10 persons and is priced at P1500 nett per person.
WINE AND SPIRIT EDUCATION TRUST (WSET) EXCLUSIVE CLASSES
October 25, 9am to 7pm
Want to be a wine connoisseur? This class will prepare participants for the internationally renowned Wine and Spirit Education (WSET) diploma.
The Wine & Spirit Education Trust, often referred to as WSET, is a British organization which arranges courses and exams in the field of wine and spirits.
Classes may accommodate 10 persons and is priced at P20,000 nett per person including a full day class with a certified teacher, wine tasting session, lunch at Spiral, and a diploma.
JAZZ & WINE: AN AUSTRIAN AND FRENCH AFFAIR
Le Bar, October 29, 7pm
Enjoy Austrian and French cuisine with jazz music by Austria’s Michaela Rabitsch and Robert Pawlik at Le Bar on October 29.
Rate is set at P1, 800nett per person which includes concert entrance fee, wine and cheese, and featured canapés.

The Wine and Cheese Buffet at Sofitel’s Le Bar is made special with wines from different regions presented by five featured French wine experts born and raised in the following regions: Bordeaux, Burgundy, South East, South West and Alsace.

BURGUNDY WINE DINNER: MAISONS & DOMAINES
HENRIOT FEATURING BOUCHARD PÈRE & FILS
Le Bar, October 31, 7pm
Enjoy a 5-course French terroir dinner paired with premier Burgundy wines. Wine connoisseurs will be treated to the expertise of Anne Deraisme, export director for Maisons & Domaines Henriot, as she presents pairing suggestions. Featured wines are from Champagne Henriot, Chablis William Fever, and Bouchard Père et Fils.
