Ingredients
Apple Oatmeal Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 2 medium Granny Smith apple cut onto 1/2-inch cubes
- 1/2 Cup honey-glazed pili nuts roughly chopped
- 1/4 Cup maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon plus extra to garnish
- 1/4 Cup milk
- 1/4 Cup All-purpose cream
- 1 Cup quick-cooking oatmeal
- 4 tablespoons whipped cream
Instructions
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add apples; cook, stirring, for 5 minutes.
- Add pili nuts, maple syrup, brown sugar, and cinnamon; cook for 10 minutes over low heat or until apples are tender. Transfer to a bowl. Let mixture cool.
- Divide apple mixture into two portions. Place 1 portion, milk, and cream in a blender; purée until smooth. Let mixture cool.
- Place oatmeal and ½ cup water in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer then fold in the apple-milk mixture. Simmer for 5 minutes. If mixture is too thick, add another ½ cup water and cook for a little less than 1 minute.
- Transfer to individual serving bowls. Top each bowl with whipped cream and a spoonful of the reserved apple-pili mixture. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon. Serve warm.
