Apple Oatmeal Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 medium Granny Smith apple cut onto 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/2 Cup honey-glazed pili nuts roughly chopped
  • 1/4 Cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon plus extra to garnish
  • 1/4 Cup milk
  • 1/4 Cup All-purpose cream
  • 1 Cup quick-cooking oatmeal
  • 4 tablespoons whipped cream


  • Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add apples; cook, stirring, for 5 minutes.
  • Add pili nuts, maple syrup, brown sugar, and cinnamon; cook for 10 minutes over low heat or until apples are tender. Transfer to a bowl. Let mixture cool.
  • Divide apple mixture into two portions. Place 1 portion, milk, and cream in a blender; purée until smooth. Let mixture cool.
  • Place oatmeal and ½ cup water in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer then fold in the apple-milk mixture. Simmer for 5 minutes. If mixture is too thick, add another ½ cup water and cook for a little less than 1 minute.
  • Transfer to individual serving bowls. Top each bowl with whipped cream and a spoonful of the reserved apple-pili mixture. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon. Serve warm.
