Bacon Mushroom Cheeseburger Recipe

In a bowl, mix the ground beef, garlic, and onion. Season with salt and pepper. Divide mixture into 4 equal portions and form into patties. Slightly press down the middle part of the patties. Set aside. 

Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add bacon and cook until crispy. Drain on paper towels and chop into small pieces. Set aside. (Save the bacon oil.)

In the same pan, add oil then place the burger patties. Cook for 5 minutes on each side. Remove from heat. 

Still using the same pan, add butter and mushroom slices. Cook for 5 minutes then season with salt and pepper. 

Make the cheese sauce: heat butter in a small pot over medium-low heat. Add flour and whisk until well combined. Slowly add milk while whisking, cooking until slightly thick in its consistency. Add shredded cheese and whisk until well combined. Season with salt and pepper. (Add water by the tablespoon to thin down the cheese sauce if too thick or cook a little longer to thicken more.)  

To assemble: Place lettuce on top of the bottom bun then layer tomato slices, beef burger, cheese sauce, bacon bits, and finally the mushrooms before serving immediately. Serve more cheese sauce on the side.
