Ingredients
Beef Gyro Ingredients
- 500 Grams Beef use lean ground beef
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 teaspoons fried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
- 1/8 Cup red wine vinegar
- 12 pieces pita bread
- onion sliced thinly
- tomatoes sliced thinly
- Cucumber sliced thinly
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1 Cup Cucumber peeled, seeded, and diced
- 1 Cup plain yogurt
- 1 Table Spoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
- 2 teaspoons fresh dill chopped
Instructions
- Combine ground beef, paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, and vinegar in a bowl. Mix well. Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours or overnight.
- Prepare the sauce: Sprinkle salt over cucumber. Set aside for an hour then drain. Squeeze out any moisture.
- Put cucumber in a food processor or blender. Add the rest of the ingredients. Blend until smooth. Chill until ready to use.
- Form beef mixture into 1-inch long logs or into meatballs.
- In a nonstick skillet, cook the beef until done. Transfer to a plate.
- Heat the pita bread in a griddle or in the oven until lightly browned.
- To assemble, lay a pita on a plate. Top with beef, onions, tomatoes, and cucumber. Roll up; wrap in wax paper or secure with toothpick. Serve with sauce.
