Biko With Condensed Milk Recipe
An easy kakanin gets a delicious makeover!

Biko, also known as bibingkang malagkit, is an easy kakanin to make. This steamed rice cake is made with glutinous rice (malagkit) that's simmered in coconut milk and sugar and then topped with latik. Latik is commonly made by simmering coconut cream until the coconut oil is extracted and the coconut milk solids are toasted. It's a deceptively simple dessert that's super tasty.Â
To make this version different but no less flavorful, we made the usual biko but swapped out the latik for a topping that's easier to make. We mixed kitchen staples sweetened condensed milk with gata powder to create a basically better flavor for the topping with a more intense flavor.Â
