Turn your regular bread into a delicious pudding!
2 tablespoons sugar
1 large fuji apple, peeled, cored, and diced
2 tablespoons butter, plus 1/4 cup or more, softened
5 slices raisin bread, halved diagonally
1 1/2 cups whipping cream
2 large egg
1 piece egg, yolks only
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 to 1/3 cup raisins
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Sprinkle sugar in a sauté pan and cook over medium heat until sugar melts and turns amber in color.
Add diced apples; sauté until apples are coated in the caramel. Add 2 tablespoons butter; stir well. Cook until apples are tender. Set aside and cool completely.
Spread softened butter on both sides of each bread slice. Arrange bread slices in an ovenproof dish.
Combine cream, eggs, egg yolk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon in a separate bowl; mix well.
Pour mixture over bread a little at a time, allowing liquid to be absorbed. Top with caramelized apples and raisins.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden. Allow pudding to cool for about 15 minutes before serving.
