Ingredients
Chicken Chops
- 2 (170-gram) Chicken use fillets
- 1/2 Cup cornstarch
- 2 Egg (yolks only), beaten
- 1/2 tablespoon five-spice powder
- 1 Cup sweet potato starch
- 1 Cup Soy Sauce
- 1/4 Cup chinese wine
- 1/4 Cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon garlic salt
- 1/2 tablespoon five-spice powder
- white pepper to taste
Instructions
- Using a mallet, flatten each chicken breast. Set aside.
- Make the marinade: Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Add chicken; cover and place in the refrigerator. Marinate chicken for at least 4 hours. Â
- Place cornstarch on a plate, beaten egg yolks on another, and five-spice powder and sweet potato starch on a third plate.
- Heat oil to 320°F.
- Drain chicken. Dredge chicken in cornstarch, dip in egg, then coat in sweet potato starch mixture. Â
- Deep-fry chicken in hot oil until cooked, about 5 minutes. Â
- Turn up heat until oil registers 375°F. Re-fry chicken for 10 to 15 seconds.
- Place chicken on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Chop into strips and garnish with spring onions, if desired
