Chocolate Puto Recipe

This puto is flavored with your favorite chocolate!

Puto are actually easy cupcake recipes using ingredients you commonly have in your kitchen. It’s steamed instead of baked making it an easy no-bake dessert anyone can make at home! Why not level up your version with chocolate to make it extra appetizing? 

This recipe uses easy-to-find all-purpose flour but if you have it, swap it with regular rice flour for a true kakanin recipe.

Ingredients
  

Chocolate Puto Ingredients

  • 250 Grams unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 370-ml can evaporated milk
  • 1 Cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Baking soda
  • 1/2 Cup raw sugar
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

Instructions
 

  • Melt the chocolate with the evaporated milk over a double boiler. Once melted, set aside to cool.
  • Add the all purpose flour, baking soda, raw sugar, melted butter and salt in the chocolate mixture. Mix well.
  • Prepare the steamer. Let the water boil. While waiting for the water to boil, scoop the batter into puto molds.
  • Place the puto molds into the steamer. Put a piece of cloth under the cover to make sure that water will not drip onto the puto. Steam for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Remove the puto from the molds after letting them cool for a few minutes.
