Kutsinta (or Cuchinta) is a traditional Filipino rice cake often paired with shaved coconut. With only a handful of ingredients needed, there’s no reason not to make these yummy treats at home. To make bite-sized versions that the kids will definitely enjoy, use smaller molds.

Ingredients
  

Kutsinta Ingredients

  • 1 Cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 Cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon lye or lihia
  • 1-2 drops yellow food coloring
  • grated coconut to serve

Instructions
 

  • Boil water for the steamer. In a bowl, blend all ingredients together except grated coconut. Mix until completely smooth, breaking any lumps that form. Strain.

  • Let cool for 5 minutes then remove from pan. Serve with grated coconut.
